#50MILLIONSTEPS for Epilepsy: Angelini Pharma joins the challenge promoted by IBE and counts steps

The company has decided to join the #50MillionSteps campaign, inviting its employees to participate, with the goal of reaching 1 million steps.

Epilepsy is one of the most common neurological diseases with at least 50 million people affected by the disease worldwide and it ranks 6th among neurological disease in terms of mortality. In Europe alone there are 400,000 new cases every year. However, the stigma still surrounding this disease has direct consequences on the quality of life and social inclusion of those suffering from it.

For this reason, each year on the occasion of International Epilepsy Day, which falls on February13th, the International Bureau for Epilepsy (IBE), the world's largest patients' association, organises #50MILLIONSTEPS, a global campaign to raise awareness of the issue and to counter the stigma surrounding this disease.

The goal is to collect 50 million steps around the world. Fifty million steps is a symbolic number, as it is the number of people who suffer from epilepsy in the world. With the aim of breaking down prejudices, the campaign encourages people to share the number of steps taken during the day on social networks, providing a narrative of their journey with photos or short videos.

In the three years the initiative has been running, almost 300 million steps have been counted, and this year, since the count began on January 9th, more than 45 million have already been counted. Until February 13th, all of us can join the challenge by visiting the website https://50millionsteps.org/ and adding up our steps.

Angelini Pharma, together with the Angelini Industries Group, has decided to join the #50MillionSteps campaign, inviting its employees to participate, with the goal of reaching 1 million steps. Find out more at AngeliniPharma.com.
